Centre for Marine Living Resources and Ecology (CMLRE) coordinates and promotes ocean development activities, focusing on the assessment and sustainable management of marine living resources within India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). CMLRE conducts biodiversity studies, ecosystem modeling, and supports ornamental fish breeding and molecular categorization of ocean species. It operates the Fishery Oceanographic Research Vessel (FORV) Sagar Sampada for systematic marine surveys. CMLRE plays a vital role in advancing India’s marine science capabilities and ecological conservation efforts.
